English Peppermint Harvesting
2006 harvest began in early June with the German chamomile and has continued since. Peppermint, Hyssop, Thyme and Melissa followed quickly on and we then settled into distilling the large acreage of Roman/English chamomile which is expected to continue till the end of August. Quality of all oils this year has been excellent and has been partly helped by the hot warm weather and a few modifications to harvesting techniques. We expect to complete the main herb distillations by the end of September but will be distilling more cuts of hyssop, melissa and peppermint after then.

Scilly Isles coast on a stormy day
We are pleased to announce the introduction of two new Hydrosols to complement our now very extensive range. We are introducing Scilly Isles produced Samphire Hydrosol and Geranium Hydrosol. Both products are grown in the very clean unpolluted environent of the Scilly Isles situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the South West peninsular of England. These Islands are much warmer then the main land and can grow crops that would normally not survive the English winters. Samphire is a herb plant that is very aromatic and grows on rocky and sea sprayed shores and has for many years been cultivated for its use in cooking. Our grower distils this bright green herb and uses the oil for his soap making on the islands.
Visit the online ordering pages to select this new product.
The Rose scented geranium hydrosol si also available as distilled on the islands. Both products are shipped by sea to the mainland where we collect and bring them up to Norfolk for a welcome addition to our range.

HRH Prince Charles meets Ken at Easton College, Norwich,Norfolk
Earlier in the year Ken Goodger one of the founder directors of the Norfolk Essential Oils growers co-operative was invited to meet HRH Prince Charles on his visit to Easton College in Norfolk which is the counties Agricultural College. Ken who is pictured second from the right in the picture was introduced to Prince Charles who was interested in the history and current activities of the co-operative.He wished the growers every success in their venture. This is the second memeber of the Royal family to be introduced to the company as during the Royal Norfolk Show in 2003 Prince Andrew visited the companies stand in the Agricultural Diversification Tent and found out more about the companies activities.
Interior view of main distillery building
Following the completion of the 'New Distillery Building' during early summer 2003 the growers successfully moved and modified the excisting equipment into place in record time and with the help of Mec-A-Tecs excellent work force distillations were very quickly underway. With the modifications complete we have found that we now have more precise control over each individual distillation which allows us to fine tune to the very varied conditions that can occur in the field. We can now achieve high quality processing independent of the varying weather conditions that may occur.
Installation of Boiler chimney in New Distillery
At long last the completion of the distillery building is near, well almost. Just under a week ago on the 2nd of June we moved the distillery into its new home at Pates Farm. Since then we have been labouring away along with electricians, steam engineers and groundwork engineers to complete the installation. Hopefully by Saturday (14th June) we will be in a position to fire up the boiler to run our first distillation in the new home. This will be an important milestone for us as now we have our own purpose built distillery it opens up the possibility of adding further oils to our range.
German chamomile will be the first of the new season crop being distilled this week-end.
Phase 2 which will continue on from this weekend will be the re-installation of the trials retort which enables us to do small batch work for ourselves and customers and then we have two further larger retorts which are being introduced to facilitate the distillation of further new oils. The hydrosol storage area will be added along with laboratory and testing rooms.
The girls have been busy with the continuing business coming from the website and we add new products as we are able to develop them. New floral waters are always coming on stream as we distil new products and I expect many more for the coming season. The new News section gives me the chance to thank all our committed customers of the website especially out friends in the Far East who continue to enjoy these pure natural products. The ordering page has now changed with shipping charges linked to the weight of products so those who only need small amounts of product are not paying expensive one off costs. Product prices have been reduced across the board accordingly. I hope it is to everyone's liking.
Melissa
Successfully distilled this last season and with increased plantings and yields we have commercial quantity of Melissa oil available. Excellent quality was produced during the last summers harvest and is available either direct by e-mail to sales @neoils.com or through the website ordering page where it can be purchased in quantity from 2 ml upwards. The floral water/hydrosol is also available from these distillations. The oil has a very lemon like aroma, which is very fresh and pleasant. An excellent example of genuine pure English distilled
